This is mainly to ensure that the structure is capable of surviving and retaining its shape without failure upon application of forces that applied on them. An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for target drone purpose is being designed and this project is mainly focused on the finite element analysis (FEA) of the wing structure. The wing that will be analyzed uses high swept configuration in which there is an angle between the fuselage and the wing, instead of the wing perpendicular with the fuselage (refer to figure 1). It is occasionally done to adjust the center of lift when the wing cannot be attached in the ideal position for some reason. The wing structure will be analyzed using finite element analysis. Finite element analysis is an analytical tool for predicting the responses of certain engineering systems. Its appeal lies in its use for predicting the field quantities of complicated structural shapes under general loading. The use of computer is essential in the application of finite element method involving large and complex structure, thus a few softwares such as MSC.PATRAN, MSC NASTRAN and DASSAULT SYSTEMES CATIA will be used. These softwares are capable of interacting with each other and each has its own role to play.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The structure of wing for high subsonic air target drone that has been produced will be imported into MSC.PATRAN and then analyzed by using finite element analysis which will be discussed in further detail in the upcoming sections. In simple words, after the results of the analysis obtained, we will know at which position (node) on the wing structure that experiencing maximum amount of load(s) that may lead to failure of the structure on that particular node.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 0, 153);"&gt;Objective&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The main objective of this project is to perform the finite element modeling and analysis of static strength behavior of wing structure of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for target drone purpose. This will determine whether the structure can sustains combination of loads during steady longitudinal flight condition.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Significant of Project&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;This project is very significant as it helps us to create a wing structure that can sustain combinations of loads under certain condition without manual calculation which involves large amount of complex calculations. By using finite element analysis with the helps of computer softwares such as MSC.PATRAN, it allows us to identify the location of the wing structure that experiences maximum amount of load(s) and thus failure of the structure can be avoided by further improving the structure according to the results of the analysis so that a much better wing structure can be produced. This project will also reduce the cost but still meets specification of structure desired.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 0, 153);"&gt;Scope of Work&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;This project mainly focused on the finite element modeling and analysis of static strength behavior of the wing structure of a UAV which mainly consists of spars, ribs and skin. Generally, CAD is the use of computer technology to aid in the design of a product. Current packages range from 2D vector base drafting systems to 3D solid and surface modelers. Thus, it makes this KJM573 CAD, CAE and CAM course an important course for engineering students. This course requires us to produce a mini project in which a device is to be chosen and further improve it. We found that portable tyre pump can be considered as an important device that a vehicle must bring especially motorcycle and bicycle as it can be used to fix a punctured tyre. So, it is important for us to take this device, redraw and improved it because there is a quote, “Engineer is the one who converts problems into solutions”, so we are about to further improved the portable tyre pump for a better and more efficient usage.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 0, 153);"&gt;Objective&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;Nowadays, Computer Aided Design (CAD) software has become one of the most powerful tools in the engineering design. Thus it is very important for me to well adapt with it. The objectives of this mini project are:-&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;1-To be CATIA’s best friends by mastering the use of CATIA software. It is achieved by research and self-explore of the software.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;2-To use CATIA (due to its flexibility) in order to produce many type of complex components.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;3-Expose to real industry type of work and to have a clearer view how important CAD, CAE and CAM in industry.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 0, 153);"&gt;Design Statement&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;In order to achieve the objective of this project, I have made an extended research on several sources such as magazines, newspapers and internet to find the most suitable product to re-drawn/ re-sketch in CAD software (CATIA).
